Samaritan Keep Home Families:
January 19, 2022 Update — Samaritan Health has reported one additional Keep Home resident is COVID positive, for a total of 22 COVID positive residents during this outbreak. At this point, 20 of these residents are now recovered. This outbreak does not impact family visitation under the updated guidance.

Summit Village Families:
January 18, 2022 Update – There are two additional COVID positive residents at Summit Village in Skilled Nursing, one was from last Friday (1/14) and one was found to be positive today (1/18). All COVID-positive residents are isolated. These positive cases do not impact our updated family visitation policy.

Samaritan Summit Village Skilled Nursing Families
January 12, 2022 Update: There are three COVID positive residents at Summit Village in Skilled Nursing. All COVID-positive residents are isolated. These positive cases do not impact our current family visitation guidance. The state has not issued any new official guidance in relation to family visitation. We are enforcing strict mask use and hand hygiene for all visitors and please do not visit if you are sick or not feeling well. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Samaritan Keep Home Families
January 12, 2022 Update – There is one additional positive resident, for a total of 21 positive residents.

January 9, 2022 Update Samaritan Health has reported that five additional Keep Home residents are COVID positive, for a total of 20 COVID positive residents. All residents are located on the 8th floor, which continues to be a dedicated COVID floor. We are closely monitoring all residents. This outbreak does not impact family visitation under the current guidance. We still do not have updated visitation guidance from the state, as was announced last week. Please know that strict PPE use is mandatory for all family visits and we ask that if you are ill please do not visit.

January 6, 2022 Update – Samaritan Health has reported that 15 Keep Home residents are COVID positive, which was found through routine resident testing.  All residents are located on the 8th floor, which is now a dedicated COVID floor.  All residents and staff were tested and all are negative at this time.  We are closely monitoring residents.  This outbreak does not impact family visitation under the current guidance, however, strict PPE use is mandatory and we ask that if you are ill please do not visit. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Samaritan Keep Home Families
November 21, 2021 Update — We are pleased to reopen family visitation on Monday, November 22, 2021, after being on pause during this unfortunate outbreak period. However, as our region’s COVID-19 positivity rate continues to be high, we must ask that all families are diligent and please use caution when visiting to minimize any possible exposure to residents and staff. Wear your mask at all times and clean your hands. We did have a total of 108 residents that were positive during this outbreak and 96 have recovered, sadly we lost 12 residents.  Please review our current visitation policy posted on our website here.

Samaritan Summit Village Families
November 11, 2021 Update — All recent COVID-19 staff and resident testing has come back negative for two full weeks, which means family visitation for both Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing residents can resume today, November 11, 2021.

Samaritan Keep Home Families
November 10, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health must sadly report that one additional resident has died that was COVID-19 positive. However, we are pleased to share that there are no additional positive cases to report for SKH staff or residents after facility-wide testing was completed over the past two days. We continue to monitor all residents closely and are using strict guidance from the NYS Department of Health.

November 9, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health must sadly report that 2 additional residents have died due to complications associated with COVID-19.  We are conducting SKH resident testing tomorrow (11/10) and staff testing today (11/9) across the facility, and we will report if there are any additional positive cases.  We continue to monitor all residents closely and are using strict guidance from the NYS Department of Health to address this outbreak as best we can. COVID-19 and Long Term Care

Samaritan understands that long term care residents and their families have heightened concerns about COVID-19, and we are here to alleviate those concerns as much as possible. Our two long term care facilities, Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Summit Village, are committed to the safety of residents and staff and have been following all recommendations from the New York State Department of Health since the outbreak of COVID-19.

  • General Safety Measures Close
    • Universal masking and eyewear protocols are in place. Staff at all Samaritan facilities are wearing medical-grade face masks and goggles or face shields to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and have been doing so for several weeks. Residents are also provided a medical-grade mask if they leave the facility for a medical appointment.
    • Social distancing is being practiced at all Samaritan facilities, and activities for residents have only been held on floors in limited size.
    • Upgraded cleaning procedures are being used, and long term care facilities received regular deep sanitizing. Watch the video below to learn more about cleaning and disinfection at Samaritan.

  • Screening and Testing Close

    Anyone who enters a Samaritan facility is screened for symptoms of COVID-19 and has his/her temperature checked. Long term care residents also receive temperature checks every eight hours as an added precaution.

    Any individual who shows symptoms of COVID-19 receives an expedited test and remains isolated while awaiting results. All staff at long term care facilities are tested weekly for COVID-19 to ensure no asymptomatic cases arise.

  • Samaritan Keep Home Families November 4, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are 4 additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 108 positive residents from this current outbreak. We have recovered 33 residents at this time, with more anticipated over the next two days. Sadly, we do have 1 additional resident death to report that was COVID positive. We have 2 additional positive staff cases as of today. All residents are isolating-in-place as we continue to try to stop the spread of the virus.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families November 2, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are 20 additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 104 positive residents from this current outbreak. We have recovered 26 residents at this time. Sadly, we do have 3 additional resident deaths to report that were COVID positive. We have 4 additional positive staff cases at this time and are in the process of completing staff testing today. All residents are isolating-in-place as we continue to try to stop the spread of the virus. We continue to monitor all residents closely and are using strict guidance from the NYS Department of Health to address this outbreak as best we can.   • Samaritan Summit Village Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Families October 31, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Samaritan Summit Village tested positive for COVID-19 last Thursday, Oct. 28. We are delayed in sending this message out and we apologize. There are no positive residents at this time and no additional staff positives since last Thursday. The entire facility remains on pause for family visitation. The earliest we can resume visitation would be November 11, if there are no additional positives. We are encouraging virtual and fence visits.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families October 29, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are 7 additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19 after facility-wide testing was completed yesterday and all results are back in now.  This is a total of 84 positive residents from this outbreak. We have recovered 16 residents at this time, with 7 more anticipated tomorrow. We have no additional positive staff cases and 4 staff have recovered and returned to work.   We continue to monitor all residents closely and are using constant guidance from the NYS Department of Health to address this outbreak.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families October 28, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are 12 additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19 after facility-wide testing was completed today. This is a total of 77 positive residents from this outbreak. We have recovered 11 residents at this time, with more anticipated tomorrow. We also have two additional positive cases for a total of 24 active staff cases. Sadly, we also had two resident deaths today that were COVID positive. At this time there are five residents in the hospital. We continue to monitor all residents closely and are using constant guidance from the NYS Department of Health to address this outbreak.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families October 27, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are 3 additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 65 positive residents from this outbreak. We have recovered 11 residents at this time. We also have 1 additional positive case for a total of 22 active staff cases. Resident phones should all be working correctly and please contact the Activities Team to set up any virtual visits.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families October 26, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are 20 additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 62 positive residents from this outbreak at this time. We have recovered 1 resident and anticipate 17 more to be recovered tomorrow. We also have 4 additional positive cases for a total of 21 active staff cases. All positive residents are in isolation in a specific COVID-unit that is only for SKH residents. All residents who had phones and were moved to the COVID-unit will have their phones hooked up by tomorrow with their existing numbers. We did not have this capability last week, but our IT team was able to make this happen. We apologize for the delay. Please contact the Activities Team to set up any virtual visits.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families October 24, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are three additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 42 positive residents and we remain at 18 active staff cases. All positive residents are in isolation in a specific COVID-unit. All residents are being monitored closely. We continue to offer only virtual and telephone family visits for the entire facility, including COVID-positive residents. Please contact Brandy on the Activities Team to assist.
  • Samaritan Keep Home Families October 22, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are five additional residents that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 39 positive residents and we remain at 18 active staff cases. All positive residents are in isolation in a specific COVID-unit. All residents are being monitored closely. We continue to offer only virtual and telephone family visits for the entire facility.
  • Samaritan Summit Village Assisted Living Families October 21, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health has received notice that one staff member at Samaritan Summit Village Assisted Living has tested positive for COVID-19. All Assisted Living residents were tested today and all are negative at this time. All residents are being closely monitored. Assisted Living staff were also tested today with no additional positive cases. The entire facility remains on pause for family visitation, but we are encouraging virtual and fence visits. Thank you for your patience.
  • October 21, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are three additional residents and seven new staff members that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 34 positive residents and 18 active staff cases. All positive residents are in isolation in a specific COVID-unit. All residents are being monitored closely. We continue to offer only virtual and telephone family visits for the entire facility. We did administer 146 COVID vaccine booster shots yesterday to residents. Thank you for your patience during this difficult time.
  • October 20, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there are seven additional residents and three new staff members that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 31 positive residents and 11 active staff cases. All positive residents are in isolation in a specific COVID-unit and several are receiving monoclonal antibody therapy if eligible. All residents are being monitored closely. At this time we will move to all virtual and telephone family visits for the entire facility. We will let families know when we can offer window and booth visits once again. Thank you for your patience during this difficult time.
  • October 19, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there have been six additional residents and two new staff members that have tested positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 24 positive residents. All positive residents are in isolation in a specific COVID unit and many are receiving monoclonal antibody therapy if eligible. All residents are being monitored closely. We will continue to update families as we know more. This does continue to pause family visitation.
  • October 18, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there have been five (5) additional residents and four (4) new staff members that are now positive for COVID-19. This is a total of 18 positive residents. All families of these residents have been contacted personally. Contact tracing continues to happen and all other residents and staff in the facility will continue to be tested. All positive residents are in isolation and many are receiving monoclonal antibody therapy if eligible. All residents are being monitored closely. We will continue to update families as we know more. This does continue to pause family visitation.
  • October 18, 2021: 2nd Update – Samaritan Health received notice that we now have three (3) staff members at Samaritan Summit Village Skilled Nursing tested positive for COVID-19. All residents and staff in both Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living were tested, and no residents are positive at this time. As per NYS guidelines, we must pause visitation for the entire facility for 14 days. Fence and indoor window visitation are available as alternatives; please contact Sandi Baril for Skilled Nursing visits and Dani McLean for Assisted Living visits.
  • October 18, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Summit Village tested COVID positive during routine testing. We will need to pause family visitation for Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living today, Monday, October 18, while we will conduct staff and resident testing. We will send out another communication once testing has been completed and we have an update on family visitation. Thank you for your patience.
  • October 16, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that there has been an outbreak of COVID-19 on the 4th floor at SKH and at this time 13 residents are now COVID positive. Contact tracing is happening and all other residents in the facility have been tested and are negative at this time. All positive residents are in isolation and only one resident is symptomatic at this time. All residents are being monitored closely. We will continue to update families as we know more. This does continue to pause family visitation. Please know that COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are planned for 10/26 for all eligible residents and staff members. Thank you for your patience.
  • October 13, 2021 Update — Samaritan Health has received notice that one additional staff member at Samaritan Keep Home has tested positive for COVID-19. This additional positive result forces us to continue pausing family visitation per state Department of Health guidelines. All staff and residents will continue to be tested and the earliest visitation could open is October 27th. We will send communication out once we can resume visitation. Thank you for your patience.
  • October 6, 2021 Update — Samaritan has completed staff and resident COVID-19 testing at the Keep Home, and one additional staff member has tested positive. No residents were found to be positive. However, the additional staff positive does force us to continue to pause family visitation per the NYS Department of Health guidelines. All staff and residents will continue to be tested and the earliest visitation could open is October 19th. We will send communication out once we can resume visitation. Thank you for your patience.
  • October 4, 2021 Update – All COVID-19 testing came back negative today, which means family visitation for both Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing residents can resume tomorrow, October 5.   • October 4, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health has received notice that a staff member at Samaritan Keep Home has tested positive for COVID-19. We must pause family visitation immediately for at least the next two days as we test all residents and staff and complete contact tracing. We will notify families after this point if visitation will resume or continue to be paused. Thank you for your patience.
  • October 3, 2021 Update – Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living family visitation is still paused due to the COVID-positive staff case on 9/20/21. If all testing remains negative, as it has been, we expect to open family visitation on Tuesday, October 5 at 9:00 a.m. The restrictions around visitation with specific hours and the number of visitors per resident will be back in place at this time. We will send out another notification to confirm when visitation resumes. Thank you for your patience.
  • September 30, 2021 Update – We are pleased to reopen family visitation today after being on pause for a few weeks due to positive staff cases.   • September 25, 2021 Update – We are delayed in reporting that Samaritan Health has received notice that additional staff members at Samaritan Keep Home tested positive for COVID-19 on September 14 & 15. This is why family visitation has remained paused and must be for 14 days without any additional positive results. Residents have been tested and all are negative at this time. Once visitation can resume safely, which we expect to be Thursday, September 30, we will send out a notification and will highlight the changes to family visitation at this time.   • September 8, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Samaritan Keep Home has tested positive for COVID-19. We will need to temporarily pause family visitation while we conduct COVID-19 testing on all residents and in-house staff. We plan to send another message to all families about the status of visitation once testing is complete.
  • September 2, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Summit Village Skilled Nursing has tested positive for COVID-19. All resident and staff COVID-19 testing is completed and all results are negative. Normal family visitation will resume Friday, September 3.
  • August 31, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Summit Village Skilled Nursing tested positive for COVID-19. It was determined this staff member presented no immediate resident exposure risk. All Skilled Nursing residents were tested and all were negative, so the state has allowed us to keep family visitation open at this time.
  • August 25, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Summit Village Skilled Nursing tested positive for COVID-19 during routine staff testing. It was determined this staff member presented no resident or staff exposure risk. All Skilled Nursing residents were tested and all were negative, so the state has allowed us to keep family visitation open at this time.
  • August 18, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Summit Village Skilled Nursing tested positive during routine staff testing. All Skilled Nursing residents were tested and all were negative, so the state has allowed us to resume family visitation today. We did pause visitation for a few hours yesterday while testing was being completed.
  • June 8, 2021 Update – We are pleased to report that normal indoor family visitation will resume today, June 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will continue to be each day from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with all safety protocols in place.
  • June 4, 2021 Update – We are pleased to report that normal indoor family visitation will resume tomorrow, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will continue to be each day from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with all safety protocols in place. We did have a positive staff case today, however there was no resident interaction, all residents were tested and all were negative, so the state has allowed us to resume family visitation as planned.
  • May 24, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at the Keep Home has tested positive for COVID-19. The NYS Department of Health has provided us guidance that we will need to suspend family visitation immediately for the ENTIRE facility at this point. We will test all residents to be safe and we can arrange virtual and window visits for families.
  • May 21, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at our Summit Village Skilled Nursing facility has tested positive for COVID-19. We will need to suspend family visitation immediately for 2nd and 3rd floor residents at this point. We can arrange outdoor visits for these impacted families. Please contact the activities department at 315-782-7010 to schedule outdoor visits.  1st and 4th floors and Assisted Living resident indoor visitation is not impacted.  We will continue to test all residents to be safe.
  • May 21, 2021 Update – We received further guidance from NYS and now family visitation is only suspended on the 3rd and 7th floors.  All other floors, including the 8th floor, are open for family visitation.  We have completed additional COVID-19 testing of staff and residents, identifying no additional positive cases at this point.   • May 20, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at the Keep Home has tested positive for COVID-19. We will need to suspend family visitation immediately for the ENTIRE facility at this point. We are awaiting further direction from the state about family visitation because this positive staff member worked on multiple floors.  We will test all residents to be safe and we can arrange virtual and window visits for families.
  • May 13, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one new staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, May 13. This staff member was brand new and had no resident interaction. This positive case does not impact family visitation.
  • May 13, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at Samaritan Summit Village Skilled Nursing Facility has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member had very little resident interaction. With the new state guidance for visitation in place, we will need to suspend family visitation ONLY on the 3rd Floor of Skilled Nursing for 14 days and we will test all residents for safety reasons. We can arrange virtual and window visits for these impacted families. Visitation for all other floors and Assisted Living is not impacted at this point.
  • May 3, 2021 Update – Samaritan Health received notice that one staff member at the Keep Home has tested positive for COVID-19. With the new state guidance for visitation in place, we will need to suspend family visitation ONLY on the 2nd Floor for 14 days and we will test all residents for safety reasons. We can arrange virtual and window visits for these impacted families. All other visitation on the other floors is not impacted at this point.
  • April 27, 2021 Update: Visitation for Summit Village Skilled Nursing facility is fully open and welcoming indoor visitation at this time. All floors are off precautions and are able to have indoor visitation on the units. We will continue to be screening all visitors at the door, they will be required to sign in and out and visits are limited to two visitors per resident for an hour long visit. Visitation hours every day from 10am-4pm.
  • April 15, 2021 Update: One additional Summit Village Skilled Nursing resident on the 4th floor has tested positive for COVID-19. Visitation will remain on pause for two more weeks for the 4th floor, but we are able to offer virtual or video visits for these residents. Please contact Sandra Baril to arrange these visits at 315-782-7010. We are also deeply saddened to report that one of the COVID-19 positive residents at SSV has passed away. This resident had several underlying health conditions. We continue to remain on paused full visitation for the entire facility and all residents continue to be tested to prevent further spread.
  • April 10, 2021 Update: Five Summit Village Skilled Nursing residents on the 1st floor have tested positive for COVID-19. We can report that of the seven new residents cases reported in the past two days, five residents are prior COVID-positive residents. We must pause full family visitation for two weeks as we test all residents repeatedly and continue our twice weekly testing for staff. With the new state guidance we can offer outdoor visits for Skilled Nursing 3rd floor residents only. Residents on the 1st, 2nd and 4th floor we are able to offer virtual or video visits.   • April 9, 2021 Update: Two Summit Village Skilled Nursing residents on the 4th floor have tested positive for COVID-19 and because of this, and the positive  staff case on April 2, 2021, we must pause full family visitation for two weeks as we test all residents repeatedly and continue our twice weekly testing for staff. With the new state guidance we can offer outdoor visits for Skilled Nursing on 1st and 3rd floor residents. Residents on the 2nd and 4th floor we are able to offer virtual or video visits.
