D’Amore, Crohn’s Disease

D’Amore is a Crohn’s disease warrior. In July of 2023 at 6 years old, D’Amore underwent a colonoscopy and biopsies which showed his diagnosis. Due to D’Amore’s age at diagnosis, his particular form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is classified as very early onset, which is a well described form that is known to be aggressive and difficult to treat.

Crohn’s disease has affected D’Amore inside and out of his body. At age 7 D’Amore was also diagnosed with Crohn’s of the skin. D’Amore requires IV infusions and several medications to help maintain his disease, as there is no cure. He has developed several other illnesses such as arthritis, Raynaud’s syndrome and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). D’Amore has a feeding tube in place so he’s able to grow and receive proper nutrients that his body needs.  We have needed to travel to Pennsylvania for specialist as they are the best in the country for D’Amore’s Crohn’s disease, and travel to Syracuse often for all of his care and appointments.

Today D’Amore is into video games and absolutely loves football and basketball. He enjoys playing with neighborhood kids and being with his family. Thanks to CMN and the help and support of donations, D’Amore and I were able to travel to CHOP to establish a care plan for him, and travel back and forth to Syracuse for his care.
