Samaritan Keep Home Families – Facility Update, March 28, 2023:

Samaritan Keep Home Families,

We are still determining the appropriate frequency of changing the code for security.  We were planning on weekly, but that was determined to be too frequent.  We are considering a monthly or quarterly adjustment model.  We hope you share the code with any family or friends that plan on visiting regularly.

Samaritan Keep Home Families – Facility Update, March 20, 2023:

Samaritan Keep Home Families,

We are encouraged by the feedback received from family and friends of residents since the recent security upgrade to our front door entry system. This new process is standard practice for many facilities to help ensure the safety of residents and staff.

Primary contacts were supplied with an initial door code to enter the facility. We are working to establish the best practice for refreshing the door code and relaying that information to contacts identified as primary. Codes will be provided through SMS text messages promptly when they are changed.

Rest assured, all exits are easily opened in the case of an actual emergency.

Thank you for navigating the initial challenges faced and for your understanding, as we continue to improve the security process for our residents and staff.

Samaritan Keep Home Families – Facility Update, March 3, 2023:

Samaritan Keep Home Families,

Recently we have changed our policy in terms of access via the Keep Home front door for staff and visitors.  The doors will be locked 24/7 to ensure better security of our building.  This change led to some operational challenges and family frustration and we have brainstormed a resolution.  We will be releasing the four-digit code for the front doors to families/primary contacts so that regular visitors may punch in the code and open the doors during the evening hours and weekends only.  To maintain security, we will be updating the four-digit code weekly, on Wednesdays, and sending the updated code via text message to the primary contact for each resident.

We appreciate your patience with the new security system.  We will continue to monitor and create solutions to any challenges we face.  Everything we do is in an effort to maximize resident and staff safety.

Samaritan Keep Home Families – Facility Update, February 17, 2023:

Hello,

We have some exciting updates regarding facility security.  As of Monday, February 20, 2023, the front doors will be locked 24 hours a day, a goal we’ve been striving for.

The front desk will have a button that can unlock the doors when visitors arrive.  We have installed lights above the door that will be red to indicate the door is locked and change to green when the door is unlocked by the front desk associate.  During the off shift and weekend hours, the process to enter the facility will remain the same utilizing the intercom to the 6th floor or by placing a call to the nursing supervisor at 315-778-7840.

The process to exit the facility will be consistent with entry.  We have installed a phone by the front door that connects directly to the 6th floor, or the nursing supervisor to either buzz the visitor out, or come down and allow exit via badge access.

Rest assured, this process is standard practice for facilities like ours, and protocols are in place in the event of an emergency.

We appreciate your understanding with this new process and technology.  Everything we do is in an effort to keep our residents safe and secure.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there are any questions or concerns.
