Referrals & Appointments
Samaritan Medical Center’s Pain Management Center only accepts appointments by a doctor’s referral for a patient. If you feel you would benefit from this service, please discuss this with your personal physician, such you primary care doctor. If you are in need of a doctor, please use our Find a Physician database to contact one.
If you have received a referral from your physician – only your physician is able to call the Jefferson Anesthesiologist Services to set up an appointment for you.
Most major insurances recognize the treatment for chronic pain syndromes. However, we suggest you check with your individual insurance carrier to ensure coverage.
Your First Visit
At your first appointment, you will meet with a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who specializes in pain management. During your meeting, they will ask questions and perform a hands-on examination and will complete a psychological and physical assessment to help the doctor plan your care.
When the examination is complete, a treatment plan will be devised in collaboration with the Pain Management Center physician staff. You will be given a treatment plan before you go home, and treatment will begin at your next appointment.
Samaritan’s Anesthesiologists, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, and Social Workers work together to provide the most comprehensive care available to:
- Diminish pain perceptions and intensity
- Improve and increase activity level
- Improve vocational status
- Increase the likelihood of return to work
- Provide support for patient and family
