Education & Training Opportunities
Samaritan Education & Training Opportunities are available for those interested in observing/shadowing a caregiver at Samaritan – we accept high school students, college students, and those looking for a potential career change. We also accommodate internships, externships, and clinical rotations for those pursuing certifications and licenses in healthcare.
Observation
Designed for those under 18 y/o, who want to observe a profession for less than 24 hours total.
Job Shadow
For those under 18 y/o, who want to observe a professional for more than 24 hours.This program is run by Samaritan Health in partnership with the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO).
Internship
Designed to fulfill job shadow and/or hands on experience required by an educational institution.
Career Shadow
For those over 18 y/o that are looking to potentially change careers.
Graduate Medical Education
Samaritan is a nationally recognized Osteopathic teaching hospital with Institutional Accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), offering Osteopathic Residency Programs in both Family Medicine and Internal Medicine.
CNA Training Program
Compassionate individuals interested in a dynamic opportunity as a Certified Nursing Assistant at one of our long-term care facilities, (Samaritan Keep Home or Samaritan Summit Village) are invited to apply for this unique paid training opportunity.
Educational Partnerships
We understand the value in linking our community to educational opportunities that promote healthcare careers and provide students with observational opportunities. We partner with local high-schools, Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), Jefferson Community College, Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO) and numerous SUNY and private colleges.
Community Classes
This series of free workshops taught by Samaritan medical professionals covers a wide variety of topics from childbirth to quitting smoking for good.
American Heart Association Classes
Designed for medical professionals, these courses provide incredibly valuable hands-on training in a number of life-saving skills.
