Winter Weather Event – Updated December 1, 2024
Updated: December 1, 2024
Samaritan Staff – we are in a CODE 99 due to the weather and staffing concerns. Information below is still applicable.
Important Staff Information: November 29, 2024
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Lake lake-effect warning for Jefferson and Lewis Counties with heavy lake-effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 5 feet in the most persistent lake snows are possible. St. Lawrence County will also see lake-effect snow. The period of significant snowfall is predicted to last into Monday.
Travel advisories are in place for Jefferson and Lewis counties. As a reminder, healthcare employees (all of us who work at Samaritan) are considered essential, so the “No Unnecessary Travel” advisories do not apply to us when traveling to and from work.
As we have prepared for the impending storm, we want you to have the following information as you prepare for any shifts you are scheduled to work this weekend and Monday:
1) Transportation Issues.
a.) If you have challenges with transportation to work, please call the facility-specific staffing office. We will have some limited volunteers that will be available to give people rides within the City of Watertown.
b.) SMC Staffing Office – 315-785-4067
c.) SKH Staffing/Nurse Supervisor Office – 315-778-7840
d.) SSV Staffing/Nurse Supervisor Office – 315-777-6492
e.) For those outside the City of Watertown, you can call Yellow Cab and they may be able to provide transportation. Their number is 315-782-2121.
2) There will be beds available at all 3 facilities for those who feel they may not be able to travel safely home.
3) If you are able to arrive to work prior to your scheduled shift – please do so.
