Samaritan Medical Center has served as the North Country’s official Children’s Miracle Network Hospital since 1990, striving to raise and allocate funds to improve the health and wellbeing of children in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
Funds raised through the Children’s Miracle Network program support child-centered areas of Samaritan through the funding of capital projects and purchase of critical pediatric equipment. In addition, funds raised provide financial assistance to local families with a child facing a medical crisis for travel expenses and other out-of-pocket medical costs. Samaritan is one of few hospitals to offer this type of assistance.
Direct Family
Assistance Program
The Direct Family Assistance Program provides financial assistance for expenses related to a child’s serious medical condition. This may include reimbursement of travel costs for medical care away from home, medical bills, prescriptions, copays and medically-necessary equipment not covered by insurance. This program assists children through age 18 (or 21 for dependents and students) who reside in Jefferson, Lewis or St. Lawrence County.

Raelynn’s journey began with an unexpected diagnosis: Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex heart condition. At just 21 days old, she underwent open-heart surgery, followed by a rollercoaster recovery filled with challenges. A second surgery was needed, and the financial strain on her family grew. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Samaritan Medical Center stepped in, providing crucial financial assistance for medical expenses and travel. Today, Raelynn is thriving, and her family is grateful for the support that helped them through their darkest days.
