Academic Family Medicine Faculty  — Hospital Employed

Leadership recruitment for a dual accredited (AOA and ACGME) family medicine residency program is underway.  Program totals six residents.   Physician leader will have 60% of time allocated to program development and 40% to clinical practice.  Physician must be proficient in OB, Pediatric, Inpatient, and Outpatient medicine.  Samaritan’s Family Medicine Residency is aligned with an Internal Medicine Residency which provides great opportunities for collaboration and a cohesive relationship is enjoyed by both groups of residents and faculty members.  Board certification is required.  Family Medicine clinical practice experience is required. Family Medicine & Internal Medicine – Employed Opportunities

Hospital employed opportunities for board certified (or actively in process) Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians. Exclusive outpatient opportunity,  OR   inpatient and outpatient mix. Inpatient and outpatient mix would include a call of 1:8.   Hospitalist Service provides a “tuck-in” service for new admissions during hours of 7:00pm – 7:00am.  PA and NP support. Prenatal care for Family Medicine is optional. Medical Oncology Director – Hospital Employed

This is a perfect opportunity for a Medical Oncologist who has leadership interest and director experience to further develop and enhance the patient experience at the newly opened Walker Center for Cancer Care.  This is a combination administrator/clinical position.   Candidate physician will join two other medical oncologists, two advanced practice professionals and benefit from the partnership of a radiation oncologist, an oncologic interventional radiologist, a nurse navigation program, and a wide array of other professional support staff.  A full spectrum of services with well-equipped advanced technology will identify the Center as a leader in cancer care.  Board certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology is required. Obstetrics and Gynecology – Hospital Employed

A Woman’s Perspective, Samaritan’s OB-GYN practice is a group of (3) obstetrician-gynecologists and (2) nurse midwives that have developed an expanding panel of women who have great loyalty to their providers.  Because of the growth, an additional Ob-Gyn physician is being recruited to join the employment of Samaritan Medical Center.  The group had 800 deliveries in 2018.  Obstetrician call is between 1:5 and 1:6.  There are a total of five (5) Ob-Gyn physicians in the community and there is a very collegial working relationship with the military Ob-Gyn service affiliated with Fort Drum who typically number about four (4) physicians at any given time.  24-hour obstetrical anesthesia support is available.  A Level II Neonatal Nursery is on site with 24-hour board certified neonatology physicians available.  A Woman’s Perspective group practice offices will co-locate with Samaritan’s new program, Women’s Wellness and Breast Care Center by the end of 2019.   There is approximately a 5-minute commute from the office to the Samaritan hospital campus.  Samaritan’s obstetrical providers work in a newly designed Labor and Delivery Unit with two dedicated surgical suites.  Further construction is underway to introduce a new Women’s and Children’s area which will have its own hospital entrance and dedicated parking.  Samaritan’s surgery center has eight (8) operating rooms; a robust robotic program has been developing since 2012.  Equipment was upgraded to a daVinci Xi with integrated table technology earlier this year.  The entire obstetrics-gynecology service line is an extremely important component to the patient care delivered by Samaritan to the community.

Pathologist – Hospital Employed

Samaritan Medical Center has launched a recruitment initiative for purpose of succession planning to fill one and eventually two pathologist positions for a full complement of a 3-physician team.  Candidate must be certified or eligible for certificate of qualification in all areas of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.  Recent experience or fellowship training in Surgical Pathology is highly regarded.  The applicant must be comfortable with sign-out of cases in all areas of pathology including limited hematopathology cases.  Experience in community-based hospital setting is valuable.  Candidate will assume an active role in Samaritan’s multi-disciplinary tumor conferences. Samaritan’s pathologists must possess the willingness to become an integral part of a diagnostic team by frequently assisting oncologists, surgeons and various clinician customers in identifying a patient’s disease, determining prognostic outlook, and providing information to guide therapy.  Relationship building skills are, therefore, highly desired. Pulmonary and Critical Care

Opportunity to join a well-established group of board certified pulmonary/critical care physicians. Exclusive subspecialty focused. Physicians rotate call and coverage for the 10-bed ICU on a weekly basis. A convenient 5-minute commute between office and hospital. There is opportunity for collegial collaboration with a Thoracic Surgeon in same office. Hospital provides video navigational ultrasound bronchoscopy technology with in room cytopathology, and cardiopulmonary stress lab services. A long-standing successful lung cancer screening program is in place. A dedicated cancer center, The Walker Center for Cancer Care, opened in the Fall 2018. An active Cancer Committee involves many physicians and currently is focusing on certification with the Commission on Cancer. Rheumatology – Hospital Employed

See Samaritan is seeking two board certified  (or actively in process)  Rheumatologists  to join the team at Samaritan Medical Center of over 180 physicians and 40 specialties working together with 2,000+ employees. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing service line for Rheumatology; one Rheumatologist joined at the launch in 2018. The hospital practice was initiated as a succession plan with the retirement of a long-term private practice in 2018. With a catchment area of 250,000, and no other Rheumatology providers in the area, there is great patient need.  Newly renovated office space is currently under construction; a hospital infusion service will support the Rheumatology service.  This is an outstanding opportunity to be a part of the growth and development of this new hospital service line. Thoracic Surgery – Hospital Employed

For purpose of succession planning, Samaritan Medical Center seeks a Thoracic Surgeon to replace a solo surgeon who will phase out practice to full retirement. This is a non-cardiac position and will focus on thoracic surgery.  Board certification in Thoracic Surgery is required.   Five to ten years of experience is ideal.   Minimally invasive surgical skills are valuable.  Use of video-assisted thoracic surgery and surgery supported by the Xi daVinci Robot is available to the surgeon candidate.  A well-established lung cancer screening program is in place.  A newly constructed building housing the Walker Center for Cancer Care opened in the Fall of 2018.  There is a vibrant multi-disciplinary Tumor Board that meets biweekly.  Solid referral base is well established.   Thoracic Surgeon will have the advantage of working with an outstanding group of Pulmonary-Critical Care physicians. Urology – Hospital Employed

Vascular Surgery – Hospital Employed

Vascular Surgery is a developing service line, new to the hospital as of 2017.  Join one other Vascular Surgeon whose practice has grown to a point where an additional surgeon is required.   Surgeons work within a recently designed large Angio/Vascular Suite with specialty trained support staff.  There is dedicated vascular advanced practice provider (APP) support.  Surgeons partner with the Hospitalist Service for patient admissions.  The surgeons benefit from referrals of a large base totaling over 180 physicians and 130 advance practice providers in 40 different specialties working together with the 2,000+  Samaritan employees.  1:2 Call.  Board certification (or actively in process) is required.
